A Message from the Director
October 23, 2011
Dear Parents, Students and Fans,
The Summer has come to an end and the new season 2011-2012 is already in
full swing. I am not the only one who has noticed that there is a
renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm permeating throughout all our
teams in the Academy. This is evidenced by the many students who have
paid the strictest attention to their personal nutrition and the control
of their body weight. Let's be realistic and completely honest with our
students, there is no way we will be able to compete against the best
teams in the world if we do not possess the physical capacity to do so.
This gives us the necessary base to then work in the way that we do in
order to maximize the abundance of potential that is ever present in our
Academy.
Our excellent Coaching staff is quite pleased with the first month of
training, and judging by our students performances in the first 2
tournaments, where opponents were beaten at all age levels with alarming
ease, there is reason to be somewhat satisfied albeit never complacent.
The Academy's footballing philosophy which emphasizes "the attainment of
great results by playing great football all the time", we think is
essential, especially in the Development of players. Any compromise in
playing great football all the time, in order to achieve a result or win
a particular tournament is a short-sighted vision that is counter
productive to the stated goals and objectives of DNA.
The Academy's format for training and games are strictly in line with
the prominent European Academies, where we look to Barcelona's Academy
as our benchmark. Our Under 7's and Under 8's understanding of width and
depth, which is all we ask at that age tactically, while developing
everything about their technical expertise, was a joy to watch in their
last few games. Scores of 8-0,6-0 and 4-0,against teams with boys as old
as 10 was indeed a joy to behold. Our Under 10's and Under 12's also
playing against teams that reached the age of 14-15 years old, were even
better in "teaching " the philosophy of DNA, as some spectacular goals
were scored playing entertaining football.
The standard bearer for any football Academy will always be the First
team however, and our boys are proving up to the task in setting the
right example to all our students, in the classroom, in their homes and
on the field of play. Our students are producing excellent results in
their respective schools, and matching that with their on-field
performances. All second and third divisions teams in the Lebanese
National league have been soundly beaten, even when our team had trained
the morning prior to the game. An Egyptian team who was touring Lebanon,
playing games against the First division teams of Lebanon were unbeaten
against all-comers until they played our First team, who comprehensively
dispatched them 2-0. So impressed was this team with our Academy, that
they have now sent 3 of their best players to train with our Academy for
the rest of this season. We also have many new European expats sending
their sons to the Academy. We welcome this new influx of Academy
students, strong in the hope that this raises the level and ambition of
our existing students.
Our Academy's focus is fixed squarely on our trip in April, God willing,
to the tournament in Barcelona. DNA competed honorably in last year's
tournament albeit with mixed results, our boys seem determined to go
that step further in this season's edition, we will do everything in our
power to match their desire. DNA's first team and Under 16's are now
training every Tuesday morning at 6 AM..........yes, 6 in the beautiful
morning, on the recommendation of Coach Ian Bain, who worked with our
Academy this Summer session. Our boys are enjoying this new experience,
which is extraordinary in Lebanon, but normal in the footballing world.
Our students commitment show that they are embracing the CULTURE of
football which is Universal, and does not belong to a particular
country, continent or social class as some people would have us believe.
So, we look not to the horizon but beyond it, striving to produce the
best young men that we can.....young men that will make us proud in
whatever course they may follow. We welcome back all our students who
travelled and their supportive parents, and we count on your continued
support and presence at the Academy. Now we must stay the course and
forge ahead, while staying true to our vaunted motto "LEARNING IS
WINNING". Have a GREAT season all!!!!!!
God Bless!!!!!
